New guide includes example of a clinical pathway to relieve pain and accelerate healing

HertsOne Leg Ulcer Service are committed to improving healing rates in chronic wounds and their patients’ quality of life. Following a clinical evaluation, they have developed a clinical pathway using Accel-Heal Solo to relieve pain and accelerate healing in those wounds which are causing considerable discomfort to the patient and/or not responding to existing gold standard therapy.

This new guide has been produced to illustrate the pathway with instructions for using the Accel-Heal therapy. An example case study with one of their patients, which was originally published at the Society of Tissue Viability (SoTV) 2023 Annual Conference (Layflurrie and Ovens 2023), is also included.

The clinical pathway enables the clinician to use a guided tool for decision making to support the use of Accel-Heal Solo for their patients with non-healing and/or painful venous and mixed aietiology leg ulcers.

Simple instructions for use with diagrams are included in the document. Further information can be found on the Accel-Heal website.

The case study features a 77-year-old patient who had suffered with a venous leg ulcer for 25 years measuring 16.5cm sq. Following the 12-day Accel-Heal Solo therapy the wound had progressed enough that he could wear compression hosiery to support self-management. 32 weeks from commencing the therapy his wound reduced by 98% and has now finally healed after 25 years. The patient “cannot believe that this has been achieved’.
