The benefits of Accel-Heal in wound healing and pain management have been highlighted in a Wounds Week webinar.
The event was led by Dr Amelia Swift, reader in Health Professional Education at the University of Birmingham. She described electrical stimulation as “where our future lies” for painful and hard-to-heal wounds during the webinar which explored the ‘pain pathway’ and how different pain management approaches can be used to improve outcomes, and therefore a patient’s quality of life.
Reasons for choosing electrical stimulation wound therapy in such wounds were underlined during the 30-minute presentation which is available to watch again here.
“When we look at the amount of nursing time and effort required to help patients with hard-to-heal wounds, then these come out as very cost-effective treatments”, the University of Birmingham reader explained.
Key benefits of products such as Accel-Heal including ease of use and the subsensory 12-day treatment period, were highlighted during the presentation which explained how good pain management improves the patient experience, enhances compliance and contributes to wound healing.
Wounds Week was organised by the University of Huddersfield and the Journal of Wound Care, and gave the wound care community a platform to discuss pain management techniques, ideas and engage in key education – all CPD certified and free of charge.
